Findings from paper:

  • optimisation through operations effective (maintenance)

  • effect of soiling decreases yield by 0.146% per day, i.e. yield on day 30 after the last cleaning of PV panels is around 4% lower than on day 1 (after statistically removing effect of seasonality); however, more case studies needed to verify findings

  • optimisation through design possible (tilt angle)

  • 25° tilt angle of PV panels yields highest annual yield

  • optimisation for cost-effectiveness (highest yield in hottest months) or space-efficiency (covering larger area of roof space) requires different angle

  • 0° tilt angle of PV panels is optimal for retrofit scenario, dynamic tarif scenario, stand alone scenario
